After a boulevard was named after the football legend in his home city Sarajevo, Ivica Osim will also get a square named after him in Graz, Austria, where Osim used to live and work.
The City Administration of Graz unanimously decided to reward its honorary citizen once again and will name a square in this Austrian town after Osim.
The initiative was launched in September last year, and the square will be officially named Ivica Osim as of July 1, 2023.
Osim a.k.a. Svabo in Bosnia and Strauss in Austria was coach of football club Sturm Graz from 1994 to 2002. He passed away on May 1, 2022, in that town where he spent last years of his life.

He was buried at the Sarajevo city cemetery Bare on May 14, 2022.
